Become Obsessive
About Comfort & Convenience
By Lynda Curtin, The Opportunity
Thinker
Create a respectful environment that will enable
people to keep their business needs moving along while they are away
from the job. It is surprising how dreadful many meeting rooms are.
Some are so uncomfortable people won't sign up for training held in
these rooms. Install/Implement:
- Very comfortable chairs on wheels
- Big screen TV's with built in VCR's. Enable
everyone to be able to see
- Comfortable lounge area for networking - this
is where you get leads for more work with your clients
- Improved food and beverage options
- Printers and copiers
- Bank of email terminals
- Laptop and cell phone charging stations
- Oversized meeting rooms
- Supply of reading glasses
- Sturdy flipcharts with lots of paper
- Electronic white boards
- Reliable handicap access
- Movable tables for flexibility
- Well stocked supply cabinet
- Top notch sound equipment
- Back support cushions available
- Open space for stretching and standing
- Reduced class time - core hours, 9:00 am - 3:30
pm
- Refreshment stations
- Outside patios
- Facilities far enough away from regular work
areas to encourage employees to stay during breaks and lunch
Plan for these improvements in your capital budget
request each year, even if the meeting rooms are not yours. Take a
pro-active stance to get them equipped.
Do all of this to keep customers wanting to come
back because the experience is so professional and respectful -
