Instructor Certification Training — ideal for corporate trainers and independent consultants who plan to deliver workshops to help others develop job skills in these areas: creative and innovative thinking, meeting facilitation, team leadership, decision making, problem solving, critical thinking, OD consulting. Very Important Piece of Information: If you do not want to teach workshops — become a workshop instructor, instructor certification training is not for you. Our experience tells us many people attend certification training because they really want to learn how to use the tools to facilitate meetings. Duration:

Each certification training event is 4 days in length.

Certification Process:

• Decide which de Bono Thinking Systems method will meet your need.

• Submit your application and 3 reference forms for consideration to the program. You can download the (PDF) forms here: Application Form. Reference Form.

• Upon acceptance we will send you an agreement to be signed and returned prior to attending certification training. You will be asked to maintain the highest level of integrity, and to protect the copyright of Dr. de Bono’s important body of work. You will agree to supply workshop participants with the official de Bono Thinking Systems training materials.

• Clear your calendar for the week and attend certification training — you will have evening work that must be completed. You won’t have time during the day to do your normal work tasks. You will be kept very busy. The instructor certification experience is very intense.

• We start by leading you through the standard workshop which you will be learning to deliver — this experience as a learner will deepen your ability to instruct with excellence. The balance of our time is spent teaching the tools in detail and providing you with in-depth coaching on your many practice teach backs and meeting facilitation practices. You will also give to, and receive coaching from the other attendees to help you hone your depth of knowledge.

• Upon successful completion of instructor certification you can start teaching the workshop to others. You will take immediate delivery of your first order of workshop materials which will be arranged at the time your application is approved.

• Every two years you must recertify.

Tip: We highly recommend you attend a workshop before attending certification training to deepen your certification experience.

Pricing for Instructor Certification Training — All Workshops

1. Certification Fee — $5,000, plus the purchase of 24 sets of workshop kits.

2. Certification Fee — $2,500, plus the purchase of 100 sets of workshop kits.

3. Certification Fee — Free with the purchase of 200 sets of workshop kits.

Our Pricing Includes: certified instructor kit; training and coaching led by a highly qualified Master Trainer. If you choose to hold certification training in-house it also includes customization for your group to meet your business objectives.

Two Ways to Become a Certified Instructor

Attend a public event. See our public workshop schedule for instructor certification dates and locations.

Arrange to have us lead a customized in-house event at your company. If you have 4 or more trainers to certify, an in-house makes good business sense. It provides you with:

• Cost Savings — Master Trainer travel expenses only, rather than travel expenses for the whole group.

• Flexibility — you choose the dates, times, location

• Customization — we work with you to determine business goals, and corporate alignment. We then design to meet these needs.

• Consulting/Facilitation Skills — your team will strengthen their job skills in both of these areas.

• Confidentiality — we can work on sensitive business issues without the risk of outsiders learning something they shouldn’t.

• Community of Practice — the team will develop a strong support network with each other. If a trainer moves to a new position you will still have trained talent to deliver workshops — protect your training investment.

Instructor Re-certification Options

Every two years instructors are required to recertify. If you choose not to re-certify you will no longer have access to training materials.

The Master Trainer re-certification coaching fee is $425.00 and can be used for any of the following:

1. Arrange to participate in a two-hour telephone interview with a Master Trainer, who will ask you questions to test your knowledge of the tools. The two-hour telephone interview can occur in mini phone segments – 2 calls @ 1 hour each, or 3 calls @ 40 minutes each. The client is required to call the Master Trainer. You will be expected to ask the Master Trainer questions regarding sales, applying the tools after training, and sustaining interest. The Master Trainer will also make sure you understand the new de Bono Online program and 24x7 Software.

2. Videotape a segment of you presenting a live training course and arrange for a Master Trainer to critique your delivery during a phone interview. The segment must show you setting up an exercise and handling feedback from participants.

3. Attend a public workshop delivered by a Master Trainer for each course you need to recertify in. You will be responsible for presenting a segment of the course/s you choose to attend to demonstrate your understanding of the materials. You will need to arrange time with the Master Trainer to receive coaching. The Master Trainer will confirm your eligibility to become re-certified. If the public event is a Certification, you are not required to stay for the presentations portion of the course. You are responsible for your own travel, meals, and must bring your own course manual with you. You will not be charged a registration fee. You will be charged a fee for meals and refreshments.
