FAQ's About Presentation Content

Although we are focused on helping our clients create opportunities much more content is included in our presentations. As you read through the topics below think about which points you would like us to reinforce with your group. They all impact creativity and innovation.

Topic Comments
Business Creativity Yes. This is our specialty - helping people unlock their creative potential to boost their profitable idea output. we will hit home that creativity is a skill that can be learned and that everyone can learn to be creative. The myths of creative thinking will be broken. Creativity for bottom-line thinkers is a hot topic. We are experts in the application of Edward de Bono's powerful tools.
Business Innovation Yes.  Innovation is converting ideas to practical uses and ensuring these ideas are actually receivable. We hit home over and over how serious the business of innovation is. Our approach is innovation on demand, a huge paradigm shift for many people - systematic use of tools, a framework. Much more profitable than waiting for inspiration to strike. Scientists and engineers like the approach because  it lays the groundwork with the logic enabling them to become quickly engaged. Marketing people like the approach because it lays out a framework that enables them to organize ideation sessions that are more powerful and practical that tap into everyone's thinking. The results are action oriented.
Ideation Yes. This seems to be a relatively new term. It is a great word because it covers creativity and innovation. We often hears clients say, "We don't have a problem getting lots of  ideas. Our problem is what to do with all of the ideas." We talk about how to get even better ideas and then how to work with the output and continue to leverage it for maximum ideation impact on the business challenge.
Change We speak on how to think through the impacts of change and then how to build an implementation plan that minimizes the risks and capitalizes on the benefits. Most organizations are weak on this aspect of managing change. In fact, we believe this is the missing link in many corporate change efforts. This is why so many change efforts fail - most people do not understand the benefits, or, there was such a rush to implement the change no one took the necessary time to identify the weaknesses and then remove them. Most mistakes in business are mistakes in thinking. In this case, neglecting to think.
Team Building We speak about accelerating team performance rather than traditional team building. Very often Accelerating the Team Performance is uncovered during Six Thinking Hats training - a hidden benefit of the tool kit. We believe the focus on team building has held back performance expectations because the emphasis is on the wrong thing - building a team rather than expecting the team to perform.
Sales & Marketing

Product Development

Research & Development

Yes. We regularly speaks with these groups and provide them with tools to help land more clients, close more deals, open more sales channels, generate new product ideas, packaging ideas, etc. As always, we do not provide the answers, we believe that expertise lies within  client groups. Our expertise is providing the process and tools that will unlock their thinking power so they can "out think" the competition. You see, when they develop profitable solutions they are more likely to support them and implement them. We are  a big believer in helping these people learn how to flex their own mental muscle to experience creative thinking in a practical results oriented way. After all, people will naturally resist the consultant's solutions and recommendations. You can save yourself this aggravation.
Risk Taking Yes. We cover the need to risk thinking time to reduce the risk of other costly resources." This is responsible risk taking.
Intuition Yes. We make the point that gut instinct plays a significant role in the decisions we make, the ideas we develop and the actions we take. The key is understanding where your intuition comes from and the impact it can have if you use it to hold you back from moving forward to the future; or if you choose to ignore it - the limits it can place on the quality of your future.
Diversity We don't speak about diversity directly from the perspective of the mandated diversity training taking place across America. We let it bubble up naturally in discussions during presentations. It surfaces as "Diversity of  Thinking." This is a much more powerful approach to diversity because the shift is from the person to the "thinking" of the person. It is the quality of thinking of employees that drives the level of success of an organization. The key point that always hits home with  audiences - "The only reason you have a job is because of your thinking. People want to and need to know what your thinking is."
Decision Making We talk about the need to make good decisions in real time without all of the information available. If you can't do this you are dead in the water because you will never have all of the information. There is just too much of it. For many people, the "aha" is recognizing the impact over reliance on information has on organizational growth.
Problem Solving We talk about the amount of time employees spend on problem solving and the negative impact it has on an organization's ability to design its own future. We will help you understand the difference between problem, challenge, and opportunity - a huge "aha" for many people. This may help explain why you have been having difficulty moving forward to the future. There is a bad habit in many organizations - the word "problem" is used to describe everything!
Quality Lynda produced a video on quality that recruited over 350 manufacturers around the world to implement quality systems in the late 1980's. Her presentations today have shifted to how to improve the quality of thinking inside organizations in order to secure the market leadership and profit edge. Organizations are starting to recognize the need to equip their six sigma black belts with process facilitation tools. We speak from this perspective.
Empowerment No. We believe if you have to talk about it you are off track. Empowerment is demonstrated through actions and earned through actions.
Leadership If leadership means soft skills to you, we don't cover this topic in presentations. We do however, cover market leadership and brand leadership. Again, from the perspective of learning how to flex your own mental muscle to think your way to success in these two arenas.
Time Management No. We've noticed that many clients are using the Franklin/Covey system and that employees seem very pleased with this training. Do not under estimate the loyalty and leverage you can gain by training your frontline employees as it is holistic in approach.

The tools we teache people to use end up saving enormous amounts of time. This opens up time for people to work on job challenges that are really important.

Meeting Management No. Meeting etiquette has been more than amply covered at most companies. It has failed miserably as everyone is still complaining about the amount of time wasted in meetings. We let this subject bubble up in discussions with audiences. We think the focus needs to be on how to lead discussions using the appropriate process tools to resolve the tough job challenges that are being discussed during these unproductive meetings. We can certainly discuss this in quite a bit of detail with your group. This represents a shift from meeting management to meeting productivity to drive business results.
Motivation We aren't sure what people mean when they ask for a motivational speaker. We will, however, motivate your group to take charge of their own thinking to think their way to success. This is the one of the best ways to boost  bottom-line profit because the thinking power of your employees is your invisible competitive advantage!
