By exploring the limitations on the traditional concept of Return On Investment, the 2002 West Coast Forum will reveal next generation definitions of ROI. The emergence of more natural expansions of ROI includes Return On: Innovation, Ideas, Improvement, InThinking, Insights, Integration, Intelligence, Inspiration, and Interactions. The applicability of these ROI's extends beyond industry to include government, education, and community.

In this century, the proficient utilization of multi-dimensional ROI thinking will be vital to individual and organizational effectiveness. The aim of this forum is to elevate the consciousness of individual and collective thinking about sub-systems, psychology, variation, knowledge, and interactions.

                                                       March 20, 2002

Innovative forum taps into enterprise thinking

The inaugural forum of the In2:InThinking Network takes a
different approach to business management. It focuses on
              thinking.

Called "Creating new ROIs (Return on Investment:
Transforming the Economics of the 21st Century," the April
19-21 forum will be held at Boeing Rocketdyne's facility in
the San Fernando Valley and the nearby Woodland Hills Hilton
              Hotel.

"Return on Investment, or ROI, is a popular way of looking

at how we do business," noted Bill Bellows, Ph.D. and
process leader, Enterprise Thinking Network at Boeing
Rocketdyne. "In this forum, we're going to look at ROI from
a perspective that deviates from the conventional
profit/loss, win/lose approach. We'll ask the question, 'Is
there something in how we look at the economics of an
organization that makes us miss the true focus? Is it
possible that we're missing something and that our thinking
              has led us astray?'"

Anyone who is concerned about the effectiveness of
individuals and organizations will benefit by attending this
gathering, said Bellows. Among the keynote speakers will be
Myron Tribus, a close associate of W. Edwards Deming, whose
              management philosophy revolutionized the Japanese
manufacturing industry following the second world war.
Tribus' opening keynote presentation will ask: "ROI or IOU?"

Also on the agenda are Alan Winlow from Great Britain. His
efforts in environmental improvement programs earned him the
Member of the British Empire in 2001. He also is the founder
              of the UK Deming Forum.

Other attendees include consultant Laurie Broedling,
formerly a senior vice president of Human Resources &
Quality for McDonnell Douglas Corp., Diana Deming Cahill,
Dr. Deming's daughter, and Barrett Hazeltine, a Brown
University professor who has taught extensively oversees on
the topics of engineering management and technology
              planning.

"The better we think together, the better we work together
and learn together," said Bellows, adding that this concept
applies to more than just the business environment.

The $250 attendance fee covers all presentations and
activities, continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday,
lunch and dinner on Saturday, and conference materials.
Registration and payment are due by March 26. Boeing is a
              sponsor of the event.
